About the Verona, Cedar Grove, West Orange, New Jersey Area

Verona
Verona feels more like a traditional American suburb, with many four-bedroom colonials, highly rated schools, and a small lake in town where kids can go fishing or rent a paddle boat. There is no direct train line here, but there is a good bus commute. Verona is also a five-minute drive from Montclair’s downtown restaurants and attractions.  

Cedar Grove
Some of the lowest property taxes in Essex County can be found in Cedar Grove. Also here: quiet streets, a quick bus commute, good schools and a traditional small town feeling. There is no direct train to Manhattan, but Cedar Grove is within short driving distance to Upper Montclair train stations, as well as restaurants and shopping. Housing stock ranges from 1920s colonials to newer construction and some grand homes, too. 

West Orange
Geographically, West Orange is one of the largest towns in the area. Here you can find some of the best values in Essex County, from big mansions to starter homes to lovely 1920s colonials and many, many condos, too. The town has traditional middle class suburban neighborhoods, urban neighborhoods, and a stunning estate section as well. Thomas Edison’s historic home and museum are here, along with some very highly ranked schools, an enormous new Whole Foods, and a farmer’s market that appears at the town center each summer.
